Chesterton High School proudly honors LouAnn Hopson as a member of the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame – Class of 2023! LouAnn was the founding coach of the Chesterton softball program in 1984 and dedicated 35 years to building it into a powerhouse. During her remarkable tenure, she compiled a 577-312 record, led the Trojans to a 4A state runner-up finish in 2006, won 10 sectional titles, two regional championships, and four DAC crowns, and was selected three times to coach the North squad of the Indiana All-Stars. More than numbers, LouAnn’s legacy lies in her passion and unwavering love for Chesterton softball. Even in her final days, she remained devoted to the game she cherished, attending local games whenever possible and staying connected to her players through letters and thoughtful gestures. LouAnn passed away on April 11, 2021, but her impact on Chesterton athletics, her players, and the community remains everlasting.
