By Tommy Berry | Oct 6, 2025 3:00 PM

Chesterton High School is proud to honor Kelly Grassel as a member of the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame – Class of 2023! Kelly is remembered for one of the most iconic moments in Indiana high school golf history. In 2011, she clinched her second consecutive IHSAA State Championship with a dramatic tap-in birdie on the 36th hole, finishing with a two-day total of 137 and defeating her friend Katie Sharp by two strokes. Her excellence continued at the collegiate level, playing golf for Michigan State University before transferring to the University of Florida, where she earned first-team All-SEC honors and won the NCAA Columbus Regional. Kelly even advanced through the grueling PGA Tour Qualifying School to compete on the Symetra Tour. Known for performing her best under pressure, Kelly’s career is a testament to skill, determination, and composure. Today, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in mental health counseling and living in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband, Benjamin Collins. Congratulations, Kelly, on this well-deserved honor! 💛⛳ #TrojanPride #ChestertonHallofFame #CHSAthletics
