Jeff McDaniel, Class of 2004 After coming close a couple of times in younger years, Jeff won state in the 100 breaststroke, becoming the first state swim champion in Chesterton High School history. He did it with the second-fastest time in the nation that year and shattered a state record by 1.11 seconds. His state record stood for 15 years. He also finished second in the 100 freestyle that day, and took fourth in the state in the breaststroke as a sophomore and third as a junior. He was All-DAC and sectional champ all four years. Jeff was a two-time All-American at Tennessee and captain of the Vols’ SEC championship team. Jeff and wife, Jamie, met in college, when Jamie also was on Tennessee’s swim team. Their son Hudson won two Ohio state titles in the breaststroke. Hudson’s brother, Rylan, was a state runner-up. Both boys continued their swim careers at Ohio State.
