The Munster Mustangs tamed the Trojans and ended their brief winning streak at two games after handing them a 7-4 loss. Dylan Bradford was the starting hurler for Chesterton and shoved for three and a third innings. Bradford hit a guy, walked one and sent three Mustangs back to the stable via strikeouts while allowing three runs in which just one of those were earned. Munster only mustered three weak hits off the senior flame thrower, enough to credit him with his second loss of the year. The Trojans jumped out to an early lead with singles by Rob Czarniecki(2-3, 2R, BB, K) and Troy Barrett(1-4,) who ended up advancing on the throw to third attempting to gun down Czarniecki. Caden Hackett(1-3, R, 3RBI, HR) promptly grounded sharply to deep short to plate Czarniecki. Both team were held scoreless in the second with each going three up three down. Isaiah Prater(0-2, BB, K) worked a walk after a seven-pitch battle to get back to the top of the Trojan lineup. Unfortunately, Prater would be stranded at third base as the Munster pitcher held the best part of the order in check. Munster would go ahead in the game in the third with two in the wagon on a single off the glove of Ethan Glassman(0-1, R, BB, K)(1.2IP, 4H, 3R, 2BB, 2K) who ranged to his left as the ball neared the bag at second. The Trojans battled back with a run of their own when Bradford(1-2, RBI) helped his own cause singling in Glassman who led off the inning with a base on balls. Munster came back with three in their half of the fourth after forcing Chesterton to make a call to the pen. Glassman got the ball and inherited a couple runners that would eventually score closing the book on Bradford making it 5-2 in favor of Munster. Chesterton would threaten in 5th filling the bases for John Knight(0-2, K). A Mustang pitching change at this time and Knight go ahead in the count 2 balls and no strikes. Knight then took two consecutive strikes and then swung through the next pitch squandering the thoughts of a crooked number on the scoreboard for the visitors. Glass got through the next inning unscathed with a G Kirkland(0-1, K) web gem at short ended the frame. Munster would tack on a couple insurance runs in the sixth and it proved to be too much of a hole for the Trojans to climb out of even with a Caden Hackett blast that traveled into the darkness beyond the left centerfield wall some 380 feet away ending the error plagued game at 7-4. Logan Chestovich(IP, 2H, ER, BB) pitched well in relief. The Trojans get the chance for redemption today as they board the bus and travel to Lafayette where they will take on McCutchen this evening in the Joe Heath Classic.
